Sarah MacIntosh is part of the third generation of four MacIntoshs to serve the clients of Mac, Mac & Mac. Sarah’s upbringing within the legal world has taught her that success is based on working harder and smarter than the client expects. She believes that a good lawyer gets to know the client’s business and never loses sight of reaching the outcome the client deserves.
Sarah is a member of our Labour/Employment and Litigation Group, with a focus on providing employment and labour relations advice to institutional and corporate clients, including many in the non-profit sector. In addition to working with clients in non-unionized environments, Sarah has extensive experience with the interpretation and application of collective agreements, training managerial staff and handling grievances and complaints relating to human rights, discrimination & harassment and attendance management issues. Sarah has been trained in interest focused bargaining and sits as lead negotiator for a number of our clients during collective bargaining. She also provides consultation to employers requiring strategic preparation and language review before collective bargaining commences.
Sarah has represented clients in hearings before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Family Court, Provincial Court, Small Claims Court and Nova Scotia Labour Standards Tribunal, and assisted in hearings before the Federal Court of Canada, Nova Scotia Labour Board, Canada Pension Appeals Board and the Office of the Umpire (Employment Insurance Appeals).
Sarah obtained her law degree from Dalhousie Law School in 2004 and her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a Special Major in Commerce/Management from Mount Allison University in 1999.
Sarah is another Mac, Mac & Mac lawyer who believes in giving back to her community through volunteer work. She currently sits on the Executive Committee of Highland Community Residential Services, a non-profit organization that provides living options in the community for people who are mentally challenged and/ or mental health consumers.
