David Wallace is Mac, Mac & Mac's most senior counsel, providing guidance and leadership to both our business clients and our expanding team within the Corporate and Commercial Group. He chairs our Corporate & Commercial Group, providing guidance and leadership to both our business clients and our expanding team within the Corporate and Commercial Group.
David received his Science Degree from St. F.X. University in 1968 and his LLB from Dalhousie University in 1971. His undergraduate time spent at St. F.X. was formative in many ways, including the nourishment of a community conscience that would play a prominent role in the development of the corporate culture of Mac, Mac & Mac. No longer a student, David Wallace is honoured to maintain his affiliation with St. F.X. through service as its legal counsel.
The depth and breadth of the clients served by Mac, Mac & Mac's Corporate & Commercial Group reflects the leadership skill sets that David Wallace brings to the table. Our client base in this practice area is disproportionate to both our size and our location. Business clients search out Mac, Mac & Mac because they recognize that business law is more about experience and judgment than one-dimensional legal knowledge. For more than 30 years, business leaders and future business leaders of Nova Scotia have turned to David Wallace for wise and judicious counsel.
Business clients are not unique in their reliance upon David Wallace. For decades, David has quietly provided leadership within the volunteer sectors of our communities. The fundraising initiatives that he has led, often as a charter member, have brought millions of dollars to the needy in our midst. His work in the area of mental health is especially close to him and has brought him widespread appreciation from his community. In his quiet and understated manner, David Wallace has spent the last thirty and more years of his professional career organizing our community leaders in ways that has made our region, on a per capita basis, one of the most generous supporters of charitable causes of any area in our nation.
David Wallace's formal resumé lists a variety of professional contributions, including service on both Bar Council and the Discipline Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. He is a Past President and Life Member of Kinsmen and a former President of the Abercrombie Golf and Country Club. His leadership contributions have included the United Way, various mental health agencies and his local Parish Council. He is the perennial Master of Ceremonies of the annual Pictou County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. His more significant contributions to our community more often lie in unheralded and unrecorded ways, where David's quiet stewardship provides insight and wisdom to those in need of guidance.
The partners and staff at Mac, Mac & Mac like to think of David Wallace as the rock upon which our reputation has been built. But there is a lighter side to David Wallace that only infrequently sees the light of day. To the uninitiated, he appears to be a somewhat straightlaced and self-deprecating corporate lawyer. Those who know him well know that David is a keen observer of the human condition, a dry wit and a humorist without match in our legal community.
